Commissioner of the Ukrainian Parliament for Human Rights Lyudmyla Denisova talked to her Russian counterpart Tatyana Moskalkova. The Russian Ombudsman made the transportation of the Crimean Tatar to a hospital possible, Denisova reports.
‘At my request, Tatyana Moskalkova has already talked to the “head” of Federal Penitentiary Service in Crimea, and he promised that Edem Bekirov will be taken to a hospital on Monday, in order to carry out necessary medical examinations, and provide all needed medical aid.
According to the Russian Ombudsman, diabetes patient Edem Bekirov has express tools for measuring blood sugar levels directly in the cell, he is also provided with all the necessary things. Tatyana Moskalkova provided me with a certificate stating that representatives of the Public Monitoring Commission of Crimea had recently visited him in the Simferopol remand center. They report that Edem Bekirov is being kept in a clean cell, and there is another detainee who assists him when necessary. Edem also receives parcels his relatives send him,’ Denisova said.
In addition, Moskalkova told the Ukrainian colleague about the condition of Ukranian political prisoner Stanislav Klykh.
‘From the words of Moskalkova, a Commissioner for Human Rights in Chelyabinsk Oblast told her that Stanislav had all the necessary tests done, and the diagnosis of cancer that he suspects is not confirmed. I will contact the consul to verify this information,’ Denisova added.
The Ukrainian Ombudsman notes that she is going to meet with Russian colleague in Moscow on Monday.
As we reported earlier, the Russian law enforcers detained Crimean Tatar Edem Bekirov at the entrance to the occupied Crimea from Chongar, as the Chairman of Mejlis of Crimean Tatars Refat Chubarov wrote on Facebook.
“On December 12, 2018, Ukrainian citizen, a Crimean Tatar Edem Bekirov was detained at the entrance to the occupied Crimea. He was born in 1961, he lives in Novooleksiivka, Kherson region. It is known that Edem was heading to Crimea to visit his 78-year-old mother and relatives,” the message says.
According to Chubarov, Berkirov was arrested during passport control on the territory controlled by the Russian law enforcers. Later, Chubarov noted that the detainee was taken to Russia’s Security Service office in the annexed Simferopol.
