According to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, if earlier Crimea was "a suitcase without a handle" for Russia, now it will become "an overwhelming burden."
“Crimea for Russia has already become a suitcase without a handle. The Crimean platform will turn it into an unbearable load,” the minister said.
Kuleba noted that today Kremlin is trying to declare the issue of the occupation of Crimea closed. But the Foreign Ministry assures that it will be open until the peninsula returns to Ukraine.
"Although in Russia they constantly say that the issue of Crimea is closed, but in reality it is not. It will not be closed until the peninsula returns under the Ukrainian flag, until justice is restored," Kuleba said.
He also noted that Crimean Platform summit will modificate international community's attitude towards the occupation of Crimea. 28 states and international organizations have already confirmed their participation in the summit of the Crimean Platform.
As it was reported earlier, the first Crimean Platform summit is scheduled for August 23, 2021. It was initiated as an international coordination mechanism to return the Crimea issue to the global agenda for human rights protection and to promote the peninsula de-occupation.
