Honored Doctor of Ukraine, a leading infectious disease specialist of the Ministry of Health Olha Holubovska spoke about the main side effect after vaccination against coronavirus. It was reported by OBOZREVATEL.

According to her, side effects after vaccination against coronavirus can include fever and painful redness of the skin. In rare cases, there is a serious side effect - thrombosis, as well as - thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome.

"A reaction like a rise in body temperature is absolutely normal. After vaccination, an infectious process begins, the severity of which depends on individual characteristics. And in most cases, both fever and painful redness in the area of drug administration disappear within a few days and should not cause concern," Holubovska said.

The doctor also noted that any vaccine against any infectious disease can hypothetically repeat some of the symptoms associated with the disease, because they contain a component of the pathogen.

Meanwhile, new side effects have been detected in Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. The EU claimed it is going to check if the reactions of patients are related to these drugs' effects.

A small amount of people complained about new kinds of reactions after being vaccinated with these particular vaccines. These reactions include: 

  • erythema multiforme, a form of allergic skin reaction
  • glomerulonephritis, or kidney inflammation,
  • nephrotic syndrome, a renal disorder characterised by heavy urinary protein losses.
