Another anti-record for Covid-19 has been set in Ukraine. Over the past 24hrs, the number of patients with coronavirus infection has increased by 689 people.
Thus, as of the morning of June 11, the country confirmed the coronavirus infection in 29,070 people.
The old anti-record lasted only a week. It was recorded on June 4, when the Ministry of Healthcare announced 553 new infection cases.
Where is the biggest number of Covid-19 cases?
That is Kyiv with 3671 cases and Chernivtsi region with 3793 cases.
That is, while the ‘leaders’ are unchanged. The Chernivtsi region holds first place in the number of infection cases. However, Kyiv is actively reducing the gap.
By the way, the capital also has an anti-record.
During the past day, Kyiv has got 91 new cases of Covid-19. Four patients died. A total of 3,671 cases of Covid-19 have been registered to date.
How many people recovered?
Since the beginning of the pandemic in Ukraine, 13,141 people have been cured of the coronavirus. Over the past day, there were 372 new recoveries, which is almost twice less than the number of patients.
Unfortunately, 854 deaths have been reported since the beginning of the pandemic.
Why is the number of infected growing?
“For a week now, as the Minister of Healthcare, I have been asking you to follow the safety rules and recommendations that we have. The President of Ukraine stated again that our quarantine had not been lifted, that the threat had not gone anywhere, but look around you at what is happening: we have all come out of quarantine, we have all decided that it no longer existed, that there is no threat,” Maksym Stepanov said.
The minister believes that in compliance with all quarantine standards, the number of sick people will decrease:
“We are easing quarantine. When we offered this easing, we listened to you, we understood that you were tired, but we carefully calculated taking into account the security measures that should be. For some reason, everyone decided that they can no longer be fully complied with. You need to understand that all these quarantine measures, that everything we offer and recommend, we do not do this for ourselves, experts also do not prescribe them for themselves - they prescribe it for all of us.”
So, according to the Ministry of Healthcare, the key reason for this is that people relaxed and stopped paying attention to quarantine.
The Ministry of Healthcare promises to take measures without specifying which yet.
According to Stepanov, there has never been such an anti-record as today, even in a difficult April.
“Based on the figures of the epidemiological situation, we will offer certain measures for the health of Ukrainians,” he said.
According to Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, strict quarantine may return to Ukraine. This will happen, "if a significant increase in morbidity is recorded in 10 or more areas."
Today, so many regions and the city of Kyiv are not ready for a new easing of quarantine.
