Scientists from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU) predict that the incidence of Covid-19 in Ukraine will increase over the next two weeks. This is stated in the forecast of the Covid-19 epidemic in Ukraine on August 11-24, 2021.

"The incidence in Ukraine is growing at a moderate but stable rate. The growth rate of new cases is about 24% per week, which corresponds to a doubling period of about 3.5 weeks. The reproductive number averaged over the week is 1.18 and has a neutral change trend... According to forecast calculations (which show a current trend of increase in the number of new cases), the average number of new cases per day will be 1,008 during the week of August 11-17, 2021 and 1,285 - during the week of August 18-24, 2021, " the message says.

According to scientists, currently the average number of new cases has increased to 839 per day. Within two weeks, this figure increased by 44%. The proportion of children among confirmed patients, especially those in need of hospitalization, also remains high.

The researchers added that high rates of morbidity could be expected when the Delta strain reaches a share close to 90% of new cases.
