The COVAX mechanism has officially approved Ukraine's request for a vaccine against coronavirus infection. This was announced by chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko.

"Now, in addition to the planned purchases of the vaccine for budgetary funds, Ukraine will already receive more than 8 million doses of the vaccine free of charge. Syringes for injections as well. We continue to work to ensure that refrigeration equipment (+2 ... + 8) for vaccination points arrives in the shortest possible time", said the doctor.

Lyashko also said that the Ministry of Health is attracting the State Enterprise Ukrvaktsyna and private companies to the logistics process to provide access to equipment for ultra-cold storage (-60 / -80 degrees Celsius) of the vaccine.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health announced the start of vaccination in Ukraine from about March 1 of next year.

On December 4, Health Minister Maxym Stepanov signed technical documents for obtaining a vaccine against coronavirus as part of the COVAX initiative. According to this initiative, Ukraine should receive 8 million doses of vaccines. The dates are still being specified, but officials expect that it will be the end of the first - the beginning of the second quarter of 2021.
