The COVAX mechanism may provide Ukraine with 16 million doses of coronavirus vaccine. This was announced by the country's chief sanitary doctor, Viktor Lyashko.

He noted that Ukraine can definitely count on 8 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. However, the Ministry of Health continues negotiations with the WHO in order to increase the number of doses.

"There is a potential possibility that Ukraine will be given 16 million doses through this mechanism - we are talking about it, but so far there are no guarantees. 8 million is a 100% guarantee, 16 is a potential opportunity," Lyashko said.

The sanitary doctor stressed that in addition to the vaccine, COVAX will provide Ukraine with syringes and biological safety boxes.

As we reported earlier, on December 12, COVAX officially approved Ukraine's request for a vaccine against coronavirus infection. Now, according to the chief sanitary doctor Viktor Lyashko, Ukraine will definitely receive 8 million doses of the vaccine.

Operative staff of Ukraine's Healthcare Ministry has approved the plan of inoculations for the citizens. The plan foresees four stages of the vaccination.
