Courts passed thirty verdicts in the cases on unlawful acquiring of $1.5 billion from the state budget of Ukraine, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said in a meeting of the committee on national security on Jan. 17.
“Thanks to the brainstorm of all involved in the 3-year work, we found the right direction, and thirty court sentences became its result. It’s bad news for defenders of Yanukovych’s bandit gang. There are 30 verdicts of Ukrainian courts. Thirty individuals who participated in the criminal scheme on embezzlement and money laundering in the amount of $1.5 billion have been sentenced by them,” Lutsenko said.
According to him, over 500 economic entities of Ukrainian and foreign jurisdiction that took part in the embezzlement and money laundering have been established.
In April 2017, the Kramatorsk court ruled that the money of the Yanukovych times officials that amounted to $1.5 billion and was kept in over 100 accounts be confiscated.
