The Shevchenkivskiy district court of Kyiv sentenced in absentia Olexiy Levin, the suspect of organization of the murder of the famous social activist Kateryna Handziuk. Larysa Sarhan, the press secretary of the Prosecutor General, reported on Facebook.
“International search for one of the organizers of the attack, which caused the death of Kateryna Handziuk, is finally unlocked! The investigative judge of the Shevchenkivskiy district court of Kyiv ruled the preventive measure for the suspect Olexiy Levin as to take him into custody,” Sarhan wrote.
The full text of the regulation will be available on May 23. The regulation will come into force after five days.
The Prosecutor General’s Office will file an extradition package for the National Interpol Bureau of Ukraine after the decision will come into force. After that, Levin will be declared wanted by the international Interpol.
On April 25, the Prosecutor General’s Office changed the suspicion of Vladyslav Manger from the organization of the murder to the organization of the beating.
On March 6, Vladyslav Manger, the suspect in the organization of murder of activist Kateryna Hanzdiuk, has been suspended from duty for a month.
On February 11, Vladyslav Manger was served with charge papers in Handziuk’s murder. In his turn, Manger said that he would not escape from the country due to suspicion of organizing the murder of Handziuk.
The court ruled to arrest Manger until March 3 with the possibility of bail. However, later lawyer Dmitry Ilchenko has posted a bail for his client Kherson Regional Council Head Vladyslav Manger.
On February 19, Vladyslav Manger started to wear the digital bracelet.
On November 4, 2018, it became known that Kateryna Handziuk died at the age of 34. She was doused with sulphuric acid in July this year. According to preliminary information, her death was caused by blood clot's detachment.
Besides, the doctors specified the cause for the death of Handziuk was specified. It was due to multiple organ failure and chemical burns.
