Kyiv Appeal Court considered the appeal related to the arrest of ex-Chairman of the Party of Regions faction Oleksandr Yefremov who is accused of high treason and changed his pre-trial restrictions on the 24-hour house arrest. This was reported by the journalist and volunteer Olha Reshetylova.
“Yefremov’s pre-trial restrictions were changed. This is 24-hour house arrest. He is going home to Kyiv immediately,” the message reads.
The appeal was filed against the decision of Starobilsk court in Luhansk region. Yefremov stayed in contact through the video conference from Starobilsk.
The lawyer of the politician Andriy Smirnov emphasized that Yefremov was in custody for three years, as the Interfax-Ukraine News Agency informs.
“After three years of automatic, illegal and what is the main, unproved arrest Oleksand Yefremov is coming back home,” Smyrnov said.
As it was reported earlier, Yefremov was detained and accused of violation of foreign territorial supremacy and infringement of inviolability on July 30, in Kyiv airport. He was heading to Vienna. He is also incriminated creation of so-called "LNR", misappropriation of state assets and deliberate actions aimed at changing the boundaries of Ukraine.
Apart from that Yefremov is charged with direct support of a Luhansk region militants and misappropriation of Luganskugol property.
