Court releases Deputy Odesa Mayor as two MPs stood bail for him

Mayor and Deputy Mayor along with other officials from Odesa city council are suspected of embezzlement

Solomianskiy court of Kyiv has released Deputy Mayor of Odesa Pavlo Vugelman as two MPs, Oleksandr Presman and Yuriy Miroshnichenko, stood bail for him, Ukrainian News reports.

At the same time, another suspect of the crime Petro Zagodirenko was detained with an option of $194.500 bail. 

Previously Mayor of Odesa Hennady Trukhanov was bailed too, by MP Dmitry Golubov. The prosecution had asked for his detention or $1.87 million bail.

As it was reported earlier, Hennady Trukhanov, the Mayor of Odesa and Pavlo Vugelman, the Deputy of Mayor were detained at Boryspil Airport on February 14. 

They and six more officials of the Odesa city council are suspected of embezzlement by malversation. 

The NABU began the investigation of this case in November 2016 because the city council purchased former plant 'Krayan' at an overvalued price. According to the bureau, the building was sold for $149, 080 in the beginning of 2016 and then the  Mayor office of Odesa purchased it in September 2016 for $6.9 million.
