“The representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office asked to extend the arrest for more 50 days for existing risks related to the fact that Vyshynsky might hide, as apart from the Ukrainian citizenship he also has a Russian one. The lawyers proposed to bail him out. Vyshynsky himself noted that he was not guilty and the whole case was a political order. The judge announced the decision to prolong the arrest for another month – till January 27, 2019,” the message says.
On May 15, the SBU considered the detention of the head of RIA News Ukraine agency’s office.
Kremlin has already responded to the incident and called the actions of the SBU outrageous. Besides, Russia promised to assume reciprocal measures. Then, the state sent a protest note over searches at the mass media office.
Later it was reported that the actions of Vyshynsky were preliminarily qualified as the state treason. The same day the SBU reported that Kyrylo Vyshynsky is now officially suspected of state treason.
Recently, there are statements about his exchange for the convicted Ukrainians held in Russia.
On September 6, the arrest of Vyshynsky was extended until November 30.
