‘Taking into account the absence of the appeals and the decision of all previous, the court decided to finish the establishment of the circumstances of the case and check of the evidence and switch to the phase of debating. Are the sides ready for them?', Vladyslav Deviatko, the presiding judge asked after the questioning of Yury Iliin, the former Chief of the General Staff and consideration of the number of the defense’s appeals.
The prosecutors of the Chief Military Prosecutor’s Office expressed the readiness for the debates.
In their turn, Yanukovych’s lawyers protested against the decision.
‘This decision is illegal as not all the witnesses were questioned. It was made under the political pressure. Not more than 10 defense’s witnesses were questioned’, Vitaly Serdyuk, the advocate emphasized.
Later the defense refused to participate in the debates and left the court hall.
