The Court of Appeals of Kyiv has left without changes the preventive measure against Mayor of Odesa Henadiy Trukhanov. This way, MP Dmytro Golybov stands bail for him, according to Hromadske.
The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution (SAP) tried to appeal against this decision.
At the same time, another court - Solomiansky - has arrested Trukhanov’s property, as UP reports sourcing spokesperson of the court Maria Zelinska.
According to her, the SAP and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau addressed the court with an inquiry to arrest the property of Odesa’s Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
Zelinska confirmed that Trukhanov’s property had been arrested, but didn’t disclose the information about Pavlo Vugelman, Deputy Mayor, as that hearing was closed, so “the information about the hearing and the results can’t be disclosed by the court”.
As it was reported earlier, Hennady Trukhanov, the Mayor of Odesa and Pavlo Vugelman, the Deputy of Mayor were detained at Boryspil Airport on February 14.
They and six more officials of the Odesa city council are suspected of embezzlement by malversation.
The court demanded to detain Trukhanov and Vugelman as a preventive measure, but some MPs stood bail for them, so they were released.
The NABU began the investigation of this case in November 2016 because the city council purchased former plant 'Krayan' at an overvalued price. According to the bureau, the building was sold for $149, 080 in the beginning of 2016 and then the Mayor office of Odesa purchased it in September 2016 for $6.9 million.
