The court has declined the appeal of the defense of Mykola Chaus on the judge rejection. The issue of the further holding of the meeting or postponing for another day is discussed as Ukraine 24 TV channel reported citing Spokesperson of the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine Olesya Chemerys.
“The court declined the recusal. The judge, who held this case since the beginning, did not get the permission. The judge will be the same – Volodymyr Voronko,” Chemerys said.
The Court’s Spokesperson added that when the judge receives the appeal, he will decide whether to continue the meeting today or postpone it for another day.
Today, the High Anti-Corruption Court holds the session on the consideration of the restrictive measure for ex-judge of Dniprovsky district court of Kyiv Mykola Chaus. Later, the lawyers of Mykola Chaus have used the right for judge rejection.
Earlier, it was reported that former judge Mykola Chaus kidnapped in Moldova was found only underpants in the village of Mazurivka, Vinnytsa region not far from the border with Moldova. When Chaus arrived in the police unit, he reported that he was abducted by unknowns.
According to the lawyer of the judge, he did not get in touch with Chaus as he was taken to Kyiv.
Later, the NABU made it clear that Chaus was detained. However, nobody contacted the detectives to pass them the suspect.
Later, mass media reported that Chaus was detained by employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and he was taken to Kyiv. The NABU also confirmed this information and published a video “chasing” the SBU car. The NABU stated that Chaus was in one of the cars.
On August 2, the lawyer of ex-judge Mykola Chaus stated that he prepares an appel on a change of investigative jurisdiction.
