Uzhhorod City District Court has arrested Viktor Olefir, the Chairman of the Regional State Administration who ran over two women under the influence of alcohol on July 13, for two months without a right for the bail as the correspondent of 112 Ukraine reported.
The judge noted that the advocated has 5 days for the filing of the appeal. As Olefir's advocate reported to the correspondent, the decision on the filing of the appeal will be made as he contacts the client.
Victor Olefir, the Chairman of the Regional State Administration under the influence of alcohol ran over two women on Zhovtneva Street in Perechyn city on July 13 at 10:37 PM.
Right after the incident, the ambulance took the women at the age of 71 and 56 to the local hospital in intensive care. The younger women deceased from injuries, the second was in the intensive care. However, she also died later.
The Chairman of Perechyn Regional State Administration was steering the vehicle with Slovak license plates. The driver of the SUV was under the influence of alcohol, according to Zakarpattia Regional Addiction-Treatment Center.
Olefir was going at the high rate of speed when he ran over the women. A woman was along with the Chairman of the Administration in the car. They both didn't injure.
On this fact, criminal proceedings were started on part 2 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of traffic safety rules, which entailed the death of the victim).
Special Investigation Department is investigating the case. A number of relevant technical assessments have been assigned to determine all the circumstances of the accident.
The driver was detained in accordance with art. 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine.
