Court announces break in consideration of Yanukovych’s case until June 21

The Obolon District Court of Kyiv has announced a break in the consideration of the case of the state treason of former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych until 10:00 on June 21 as 112.ua reported.

Today, the court questioned the defense’s witnesses, particularly, the former border guards of Yanukovych testified.

During the questioning they claimed that ‘the representatives of the opposition in February 2014 planned to perform the terrorist action against the partakers of the protests at Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv, using the tanker’.

On June 6, Andry Rapoport, the former senior officer of the Navy, 1-st class Capitan was questioned through the video-connection as the witness of the defense. It took one hour for him to testify.

He claimed that Ukraine’s Defense Ministry did not order to execute the armed response to the Russian soldiers during the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.  

Yanukovych is charged with state treason, assistance in deliberate actions against Ukraine’s state border, sovereignty and territorial integrity and assistance in leading the aggressive war against Ukraine.
