The Council of Europe expects that the new Supreme Court will be formed as soon as possible and begin its work. This was stated by the special representative of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe in Ukraine, Regis Brillat, observing the contest in the Supreme Court.
He noted that in all European countries there is an increasing demand for more transparency, effective, independent, competent judicial power without corruption in all European countries.
"The goal of the reform in Ukraine is to ensure public confidence in the judiciary, as it is part of the confidence in all institutions and democracy," Brillat said.
Brillat reminded that the Council of Europe provided conclusions on the selection of judges, and thanks to a constant contact with the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, fruitful cooperation was formed.
"This is all an unprecedented experience, and few European countries can serve as an example where the entire judicial system was reset," he added.
As we know, High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine has determined 120 winners of the contest to the Supreme Court. 111 of them the Supreme Council of Justice has already recommended to appoint as judges of the Supreme Court. The President of Ukraine must sign an appropriate decree.
As it was reported earlier the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine determined the winners of the contest in the new Supreme Court. The commission made the proper decision at the session on July 27.
