Coordinator of the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group for the settlement of situation in Donbas Toni Frisch intends to visit occupied areas of Luhansk region to meet with illegally detained persons as early as next week. This was reported by the press secretary of the second president of Ukraine and country’s representative in TCG Darka Olifer in Facebook.
"Within the framework of the humanitarian subgroup, the Ukrainian side once again proposed variants how to free the hostages to occupied territories’ leaders. Toni Frisch, the coordinator of the subgroup from the OSCE, will leave for occupied territories of Donbas in the coming days to visit the hostages and check the conditions of their detention, and we hope that this trip will advance the process of liberating people," Olifer said.
As it was reported earlier a Trilateral Contact Group meeting has started in Minsk, as press secretary of Ukraine’s representative in Ukraine in the TCG Darka Olifer wrote on Facebook.
Earlier today, meetings of the working subgroups of the TCG took place. One of the main topics of today’s meeting is the opening of a checkpoint in Zolote, Luhansk region.
Zolote checkpoint is equipped and ready to operate since March 31, 2016. The countries of the TCG agreed to open the checkpoint last autumn. 2,000 cars and 5,000 people on foot can go through the checkpoint daily. However, ever since 2016, the “LNR” leaders disrupt the opening of the checkpoint.
