The conscription of reserve officers is over. This was reported by Stepan Poltorak, Ukrainian Defense Minister, to journalists during broadcast of 112 Ukraine TV channel.
"There are no problems. Almost a thousand people, selection of these persons in completed. Why haven’t we done it since ATO start? Because the level of preparation of reserve officers is not sufficient to deploy these people to the combat operations. They should be drafted first, then sent to the training centers, where they could renew their knowledge and practical skills, in order to join our forces carrying tasks in ATO zone afterwards ," Poltorak said.
According to the minister, the called officers will be trained in training centers, then they are deployed in Anti-Terrorist Operation zone if they chose to sing the according contract.
Poltorak also reminded that there are about 96 thousand reserve officers in Ukraine.
Defense Minister informed today that there are 34 thousand Ukrainian soldiers in the ATO zone at the moment. A hundred of servicemen were killed during this year. Poltorak also stressed that Armed Forces of Ukraine are fully prepared that the situation can change and will be able to adequately respond to the threats.
