The Ukrainian Parliament Committee on the organization of state power recommended to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to urgently dissolve the Central Election Commission (CEC). 16 MPs supported this decision.
“The sub-committee rules our current committee to recommend the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (...) to early stop the authorities by dismissal of the whole membership of CEC and dismiss the members of the commission from the posts according to the list,” MP from Servant of the People, Deputy Head of Committee Alina Zagoruiko said.
Head of the Central Election Commission Tetyana Slipachuk responded to the presidential initiative to renew the CEC membership:
“I underline that the CEC is the body, which, to some extent, legitimize the presidential and parliamentary authority,” Slipachuk said.
Earlier the Verkhovna Rada confirmed the submission of Zelensky on early termination of CEC authorities. The document was passed to the parliament on September 9 and on September 10 it was passed to the Committee on organization of state power, local self-government.
The Committee of the Voters of Ukraine believes that despite the expressed comments concerning the CEC work, there are no objective grounds to dismiss the CEC members.
