Clashes broke out near the building of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine between pensioners of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the police. Activists are trying to storm the parliament, demanding the recalculation of pensions for veterans, as Ukraine 24 reports.

"Several hundred activists from different cities have gathered in front of the parliament since the morning. They demand recalculation of pensions, saying that they are all former employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or once served. They demand that the Verkhovna Rada pass a bill according to which their pensions will be recalculated. We heard from activists that if the MPs do not come out to them in ten minutes, they will start storming the building," reporters said.

According to media reports, former servicemen of the Ministry of Internal Affairs from many cities of Ukraine gathered near the Verkhovna Rada: Kropyvnytsky, Lviv, Nemyriv, etc. Veterans say they had to recalculate their pensions three years ago at the same time as for the police. Lawmakers approved the corresponding decision providing to add 73 dollars each, however the Cabinet of Ministers still has not approved it.
