Akhtem Chiygoz and Ilmi Umerov , Crimean Tatar political prisoners released from Russian captivity today, have gone through medical examination in Ankara, as both of them have certain health problems. Once they receive the results, they will board a plane for Kyiv, as Ayshe Umerova (Ilmi Umerov’s daughter) told 112.UA.
“They are in Ankara together. As my dad told me, they were greeted by Turkish diplomats, I think, jointly with Ukrainian ones, and the Turkish military. Doctors conducted medical checkup at once, as both of them have certain health problems. My dad had been in hospital for the last five days, he was brought from there this morning. We don’t know yet when they will be able to go to Kyiv. They are waiting for the results of the medical exams,” she told.
Ayshe Umerova also added that she didn’t know her father was to be released. The news came as a happy surprise.
As it was reported earlier, the representatives of the Crimea Tatar Mejlis Ilmi Umerov and Akhtem Chiygoz judged by occupation court of Russia were extradited to Turkey on October 25. Russian authorities tried to force them to beg Putin for pardon first, but the ultimatum wasn't fulfilled, as they would never concede to that.
