China sends protest note to Ukraine due to sanctions against Motor Sich investors

The Foreign Ministry received the protest note from China after the introduction of the Ukrainian sanctions against Chinese investors of Motor Sich Corporation, as Interfax-Ukraine reported.

“Indeed, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine received a note from the Chinese side due to the situation around Motor Sich. The note is confidential diplomatic correspondence that is why we cannot disclose its content. The Ministry informed the state bodies that engaged in this deal, about the document,” Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Oleh Nikolenko reported.

According to him, the Ukrainian side is determined to solve all contentious issues that exist between Ukraine and China.

On January 29, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky enacted the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on personal sanctions against certain legal entities and individuals in China for three years.

As we reported earlier, in 2017-2020, Motor Sich lost almost 20 billion Ukrainian hryvnyas, or roughly 715 million U.S. dollars, due to the unreasoned illegal arrest of shares.
