On June 1, the First Deputy Commander - Chief of Staff of Odesa Marine Guard Detachment of the State Border Guard Service Oleksiy Chertkov went missing. This was reported in the press service of the organization to the local newspaper Dumskaya.
"The first rank captain left his house on Hrushevskoho Street at 6:30, but did not arrive at the detachment's location," the statement said.
All competent authorities, including the Security Service’s (SBU) military counterintelligence, started searching for the serviceman.
It should be noted that the Odesa Marine Guard Detachment serves on a huge section of the state border from Crimea to the Danube (including 98 miles of the river) in the Black Sea.
Earlier, in late January of the current year, the serviceman during his duty went missing in Donbas.
In early February, it became known that the Ukrainian soldier had been captured by so-called Donetsk People’s Republic militants.
