Three men attacked the editor of the Naddnistrianska Pravda newspaper in Ovidiopol district of Odesa Oblast, Roman Varshanydze, as the journalist informed himself.

“I was attacked by three men, armed with iron bats. Having received the first punch in the head, I started to defend myself, as a result of which one of the attackers dropped the key of his car, and the police could identify the perpetrators very quickly. Thanks to our Ovidiopol police, who worked fast,” Varshanydze said.

According to UNIAN, the perpetrators were identified and brought to the police department.

A criminal case was started under Part 2 of Article 345-1 (Violence of threat of violence against a journalist) of Ukraine’s Criminal Code.
