Chemical emission in Crimea: schools, kindergartens closed in Kherson region

The educational process is temporarily stopped at the schools and kindergartens in Kherson region which are situated in the hot zones in the result of the chemical emission at the plant "Titanium investments" in Crimea as Kherson Regional City Administration reported.

"To prevent the undesirable consequences due to the pollution by the toxic substances of the atmosphere in the result of the work of "Titanium investments" plant that is situated in occupied Crimea, we decided to stop the educational process at the schools and kindergartens which are situated in the hot zones," the message said.

Moreover, the health posts will be opened at the checkpoints "Kalanchak" and "Chaplynka" that were earlier closed.

According to the decision, it is necessary to hold the rehabilitation of the children-citizens of the settlements in the hot zones at the health camps of the regions and hold the public-awareness activity among the population to increase the awareness level on the rules of the general preventive events.

Earlier Kalanchak and Chaplynka, the checkpoints on the administrative border with the occupied Crimea are temporarily shut down because of the dangerous leak of chemicals, which took place at Titan factory in Armyansk, in the northern part of the occupied peninsula.

As we reported an unknown substance was discharged in the air in Armyansk, North Crimea. A greasy mud with a yellow shade appeared on metallic objects, roofs and leaves on the trees.

Later, Sergey Aksyonov, “head” of the annexed Crimea claimed that the situation with the discharge of the unknown substance in the air goes beyond the norms.

Moreover, toxic chemicals were detected in the air in the Kherson region, southern Ukraine.

Refat Chubarov, the Chairman of the Crimean Tatars’ Mejlis claimed that the evacuation of the children due to the emission of the unknown substance has begun in Armyansk.

Earlier it was reported that the hit of the shells at the technological tanks during the training of the detachments of the Armed Forces of Russia became the reason for the chemical emission at the plant “Crimean Tytan”.

On September 6, it was reported that the plant on the production of the titanium dioxide, the subsidiary of “Titanium investments” in Crimean Armyansk will completely stop to work on Sunday, September 9.
