President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that soon the center on counteraction disinformation will be launched in Ukraine. The president made such a statement at Ukraine 30 forum.
“I stood with the initiative to create in Ukraine the center on counteraction disinformation. Soon, it will start its work,” Zelensky said.
According to the president, in the future, this center should become the international hub for counteraction disinformation and propaganda all over the world.
Moreover, Zelensky plans to introduce lessons on media awareness at schools.
“The lessons of media awareness should appear in school curricula. Besides, people who finished schools a long time ago – our parents, grandfathers, and grandmothers, we should teach them the information hygiene,” Zelensky noted.
Earlier, the Ministry of Culture told about the bill that will regulate the media sphere in Ukraine: in particular, how they will fight fake news, what should be the format of news and responsibility for disinformation.
Later, then Minister of Culture Volodymyr Borodyansky, commenting on the ministry's initiative to regulate the media sphere in Ukraine, assured that freedom of speech in Ukraine would not suffer.
OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Harlem Desir expressed concern and criticized the Ukrainian bill on the fight against disinformation.
