Only one person works at the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), and it is chairman Polina Lysenko. She did not get a salary for a few months of work as Ukrayinska Pravda reported.
“I am the only employee of the Center,” Lysenko said.
According to her, she has been working without a salary since April 2, which is the date of her appointment. According to her calculations, as of the end of 2021, the approximate budget for payment of work of half of the staff, in other words, 26 people, made 11-12 million of hryvnias ($405,304-442,150). It is about 60,000 hryvnias ($2,210) per month for a specialist. The majority of the future staff will comprise of analysts. The funds, Lysenko said, should be provided by the Finance Ministry.
The office of Lysenko is a small room on the first floor of the NSDC and the situation room of the President’s Office, where the center should work.
On April 2, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Polina Lysenko as the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation. The presentation of the Center for Countering Disinformation will take place on April 6.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that soon the center on counteraction disinformation would be launched in Ukraine.
According to the president, in the future, this center should become the international hub for counteraction disinformation and propaganda all over the world.
