Around midnight on January 30, an unknown man set fire to the car of Radio Liberty journalist Halyna Tereshchuk. The deputy of Lviv City Council Ihor Zinkevych reported this on his Facebook page.

“According to a neighbor of the Tereshchuks married couple, who accidentally witnessed the crime, an unknown man with a hidden face placed a package with an unknown substance under the wiper blades on the windshield of the car and set it on fire,” Zinkevych wrote.

The front of the Mitsubishi Colt car is damaged: bonnet, windshield and partially interior were burned.

As it was reported earlier, 49 journalists were killed in 2019, 389 are in prison and 57 are being held hostage, according to the annual worldwide round-up of deadly violence and abusive treatment against journalists, released by Reporters Without Borders (RSF).

Among others, the report mentions Ukrainian journalist Vadym Komarov. "a Ukrainian journalist who was well known for investigating corruption in the city of Cherkasy and who had been the target of several murder attempts in recent years, died in June from the severe head injuries he had sustained in a violent assault in May. His murder remains unpunished," the report said.
