‘A driver of the SUV Mazda drove to the oncoming traffic lane and hit a Mitsubishi that ran into the third car. The passenger of Mitsubishi died at the scene, the driver of the car was hospitalized to the resuscitations department with the traumas and leg fracture. The rescuers got him out of the car’, the correspondent of 112 Ukraine reported.
The driver of the SUV Mazda refused to pass the blood alcohol test while the witnesses claimed that he was drunk. Later the advocates of the driver arrived and they made for the drug dependence clinic.
‘He is drunk and we all, relatives and investigators spotted this. He immediately called three advocates, he was mounted to the car and we cannot reach him to talk, he is silent and does not answer at any question’, the daughter of the perished man commented.
Vladyslav Krykly, the Head of the Chief Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs claimed that Volodymyr Naida, the Head of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Division #3 of Kyiv was behind the wheel.
It was reported that Naida was detained and the establishment of the circumstances and grounds of the car accident continues. Also, the criminal proceeding in violation of the traffic regulation that led to the death was opened. The driver of Mazda can be imprisoned up to 8 years.
Later it was reported that the Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv charged Volodymyr Naida with papers. He is suspected in the violation of the traffic regulation that led to the death or grave bodily harm. The prosecutor’s office will appeal to the court to choose the pretrial restriction in the form of the detention in custody.
