Canada to send first batch of sniper rifles to Ukraine in a few weeks

Ukraine will get the first batch of sniper rifles from Canada in a few weeks as Ukrinform reported citing Deputy Foreign Minister Vasyl Bodnar.

“The completion of paperwork on the supply of the sniper rifles is at the final stage. The delay appeared not at the Canadian side but partners who supply the constitutive parts. We expect that the weapon will be in Ukraine in the coming days or weeks,” Bodnar said.

According to him, Ukrainian and Canadian diplomats discussed the special mechanism of the consultations at the level of the defense ministers on the necessities of Ukrainian army to make Ottawa understand, which supplies should be provided. The first contact of such nature will take place at the end of November.

In 2017, Canada put Ukraine into the so-called control list of states, where the supply of automatic weapons is permitted. Thus, it canceled the arms embargo toward Ukraine was canceled.
