Canada expanded the list of persons subjected to sanctions on Russia's aggression in Ukraine for another 15 people. There are six so-called "State Duma deputies" among them who were elected in the occupied Crimea, elections of which Canada does not recognize. The sanctions include the freezing of assets of individuals who are in sanctions list and the ban for them to participate in trade agreements.
This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada.
"In the face of military aggression and against the background of illegal occupation of Crimea, Canada is taking steps to support Ukraine and its people in their desire to restore political and economic stability. The sanctions were imposed against those individuals who are responsible for the crisis outbreak in the country, " the message states the words of the Foreign Minister of Canada Stephane Dion.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine and Canada are close to signing military cooperation agreement. The countries are ready to sign the agreement and now search for the place and time to sign it.
