Cabinet of Ministers approved a bill for the establishment of Financial Investigation Service in Ukraine. The document was presented by Oleksandr Danylyuk, Ukraine’s Minister of Finance, during the government meeting.
It will be sent to Reform Council to develop the final version.
The press service of Finance Ministry also informed about the proposed functions and framework of the future institution.
Thus, the main functions of the service will be identification, prevention, disclosure and preliminary investigation of crimes against interests of the State in economic, financial and tax areas. The new body will also carry out analytical and preventive work to uncover the factors making such crimes possible. The feature of the new Service is changing forcible approach to complex and analytical using modern methods of investigation. The Service will be completely demilitarized, formed of new people who will receive decent remuneration, and separated from the State Fiscal Service.
It is noted that the creation of Financial Investigation Service was supported by President and Prime Minister, this is also provided for in coalition agreement, government action plan and Memorandum on cooperation with the IMF.
The draft bill is to be considered at the National Reform Council in the near future and will be submitted to Verkhovna Rada. The work on the actual launch of State Fiscal Service is underway.
