Cabinet approves plan to implement EU-Ukraine Association Agreement

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a plan of measures to implement the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. The corresponding decision was made at a government session on October 25, the correspondent of reported.

"This plan defines more than 2 thousand specific tasks for the implementation of the Association Agreement provisions and annexes and more than 5 thousand measures for their implementation," Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze said.

Earlier it was reported that EU Council approved the Association Agreement of Ukraine and the EU on July 11, thus the European Union finally completed the ratification of the Agreement.

On Friday, September 1, the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement entered into full force and effect, as foreseen by the respective statement earlier released by the EU. Ukraine’s Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman posted this on Facebook.

The work on the EU-Ukraine Association Agreeement took ten years. The very document was initialed in Brussels in 2012; the agreement’s text was complete in 2013. In March 2014, the parties signed the deal. Then it took another three years to complete the ratification process; the document was considered and finally approved by the Ukrainian Parliament, parliaments of EU member countries and the European Parliament.
