Kyiv Pechersk District Court arrested a border guard involved in the detonation of a car of a worker of the Security Service of Ukraine, as Prosecutor General’s Office reported.
An officer of the State Border Guard Service was exposed. During 2017-2019 he illegally received secret information from the information and search database toward the victims and his relatives by using his authority. This information was passed to the terrorists.
On June 12, the suspicion in complicity in the illegal attempt of the terrorist act was announced against him.
The same day the court chose the restrictive measure for him in the form of the arrest with a possibility of the bail.
The investigation continues on this criminal proceeding. The comprehensive measures are assumed; they aim to establish all persons involved in this especially grave offense.
The terrorist act provides the imprisonment from 10 up to 15 years or life imprisonment with or without confiscation of property.
The car exploded in Solominsky district of Kyiv in the morning of June 27, 2017. The accident occurred at the intersection of Solomianska and Mekhanizatorov street. The driver died in the car blast. The police opened the criminal investigation upon the article 'Terrorist Attack'.
Later it was reported that the victim is the officer of the Chief Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine's Defense Ministry Maksym Shapoval. The mass media specified that he was the head of the guard service of the former Russian State Duma Denis Voronenkov citing the source in the Ministry of Defense.
On March 31, 2017, Oleksandr Kharaberyush, Security Service Colonel died in the car explosion in Mariupol. The SBU detained the suspect in the murder of Kharaberyush. Suspect Yulia Prasolova admitted that she planted the bomb under the car of the colonel.
