U.S. State Secretary Antony Blinken stated that America would not allow the Russian Federation to use the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline as a tool for putting pressure on Ukraine and Europe as Reuters reported.
"Our goal remains to ensure that Russia cannot use energy as a coercive tool as a weapon against Ukraine, or anyone else in Europe," Blinken stated.
He also reminded Washington's stance that the Nord Stream 2 is the geopolitical project of Moscow, threatening the energy security of Europe and disrupting the security of Ukraine and other countries of the regions.
On June 4, President of Russia Vladimir Putin stated that the laying of the first line of the Nord Stream 2 was finished.
Meanwhile, German government spokesman Steffen Seibert stated that it is extremely important for Berlin to maintain Ukraine's status as a gas transit country even after Nord Stream 2 is put into operation.
