Blinken, NATO Secretary General discuss options for responding to Russia's aggression

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. The telephone conversation was devoted to the threat of Russia's attack on Ukraine. US Department of State Spokesperson Ned Price reported this.

“They discussed the December 7 call between President Biden and Russian President Putin and NATO’s options in response to further Russian aggression against Ukraine,” the message says.

The Secretary praised the Secretary General’s ongoing efforts to increase awareness and unity within the Alliance, as well as for his organization of a successful NATO foreign ministerial meeting November 30-December 1 in Riga, Latvia.

Earlier, on December 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden held talks. They lasted two hours. Bilateral relations, strategic stability, as well as the situation in Ukraine and NATO enlargement were on the agenda.

It should be noted that on the eve of this meeting, the US President made a number of calls. In particular, Biden called on NATO allies and leaders of several countries.
