The reason for the fire and explosion of ammunition at the 48th arsenal in Kalynivka, Vinnytsia region in 2017 is the sabotage and it is confirmed by received evidence. Moreover, the involvement of Russia and occupied Donbas is being checked as Prosecutor General of Ukraine Iryna Venedyktova reported on Facebook.
“The version of an explosion at the 48th arsenal through the intrusion of an unauthorized person to the territory of the military unit and planting of the explosive device is confirmed by received evidence and conclusions of the forensic analyses, protocols of held secret investigative actions, questioning of witnesses and inspections attached to the materials of the proceeding,” the message says.
The Prosecutor General has noted that considering the special period in the state and holding of combat actions in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, special attention is paid to the collection of the evidence of the commitment of arsons and explosions at the Ukrainian warehouses by sabotage and reconnaissance forces of Russia or terrorist organizations Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic.
“For this aim, the prosecutors and investigators also use the measures of the international cooperation provided by the criminal procedural code. They expect the answer from the authorized bodies of Czechia on explosions at ammo depot in October and December 2014 in Vrbětice,” Venedyktova underlined.
As it was reported, fire at the ammunition storages in Kalynivka of Vinnytsia region began at 22:00 on September 26. Two women suffered as a result of the incident and were hospitalized. Almost 30 000 local citizens were evacuated from the dangerous area. The explosions ceased in the morning of September 28 and the rescuers finished clearing the territory from the explosives near the depot in the afternoon.
