In the indicated fragment of the interview, Sharoyko stated that he had been in contact with Ukrainian diplomats "under cover" in Belarus, including Ihor Skvortsov, an advisor to the Ukrainian Embassy in Minsk, whom the Belarusian KGB called a spymaster.
"In 2016, with the change of operational leader, I was transferred from a department that was dealing with journalists working under cover to a department the diplomats work under cover. I still do not understand why it happened, I guess it was done in the run-up to taking office by the first secretary of the embassy of Ukraine, colonel Skvortsov. I know him since my service in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, "he said.
In addition searches at Sharoyko's premises were shown, during which allegedly there were copies of intelligence reports that he had already managed to send "where he was supposed to send them". According to the TV channel, a citizen of Belarus was arrested together with Sharoyko. He was allegedly gathering intelligence data for the Ukrainian special services.
As it was reported earlier Belarus announced the advisor of Ukrainian Embassy in Minsk Ihor Skvortsov persona non-grata due to the detention of the Ukrainian Radio's special correspondent Pavlo Sharoyko.
The KGB also said that Sharoyko allegedly confirmed that "coordination of his intelligence activities" was carried out by Skvortsov, who was called in the Belarusian department an employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and he acted allegedly under cover of the post of adviser to the embassy of Ukraine in Belarus.
