Beating of Ukraine's MP Nayem: Prosecutor's Office informs about end of initial investigation

The Investigation Department of Kyiv National Police will conduct further pretrial investigation. Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office took this criminal proceeding under its procedural control

All the initial and procedural actions are finished within the criminal proceeding concerning beating of Ukraine’s MP Mustafa Nayem, as Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office reports.

The Investigation Department of Kyiv National Police will conduct a further pretrial investigation. Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office took this criminal proceeding under its procedural control.

Besides, Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office prepares a request on extradition of a suspected of causing bodily harm to Ukraine’s MP from Azerbaijan to Ukraine.

As it was reported earlier, a people's deputy Mustafa Nayem was beaten up in the area of Bessarabska Square in Kyiv on April 30He himself informed about the incident and stressed that the incident is not connected with his political activities.

One of the participants in the beating of the People's Deputy Mustafa Nayem on Bessarabska Square, wanted by the police, flew to Baku (Azerbaijan) 2 hours after the incident. It was reported that he was the one who broke the jaw of the deputy.

The three detainees were charged under Art. 296 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the sanction of which provides for up to 4 years of imprisonment, which is a more severe punishment than that of Article 122 Part 1.
