“Within the criminal proceeding the police officers provided citizen Mustafa Nayem with physical security for the period we consider necessary,” Knyazev said.
As it was reported earlier, a people's deputy Mustafa Nayem was beaten in the area of Bessarabska Square in Kyiv on April 30. He himself informed about the incident and stressed that the incident is not connected with his political activities.
One of the participants in the beating of the People's Deputy Mustafa Nayem on Bessarabska Square, wanted by the police, flew to Baku (Azerbaijan) 2 hours after the incident. It was reported that he was the one who broke the jaw of the deputy.
The three detainees were charged under Art. 296 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the sanction of which provides for up to 4 years of imprisonment, which is a more severe punishment than that of Article 122 Part 1.
