Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I announced that he would visit Ukraine on August 24, 2021, on the 30th anniversary of the independence as Orthodox Times reported.

“The Ecumenical Patriarch announced that he would pay an official visit to Ukraine on the Independence Day of Ukraine next August, responding to the invitation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky,” the message said.

It is noted that Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmygal has officially visited the Thronal Feast of the Ecumenical Patriarchate – the Mother Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox. He was accompanied by the members of his cabinet.

On October 17, the Office of the President of Ukraine reported that Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew intends to visit Ukraine next year. Bartholomew's visit may take place on Independence Day if the epidemic situation stabilizes.
