High avalanche risk is expected in the Carpathians on March 10-11. Ukraine’s Emergency Service reported this referring to Hydrometeorological Centre information.
“In the mountains of Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia and Lviv regions a high avalanche risk (third level) is forecasted on March 10-11,” the message says.
It should be mentioned that the third level European avalanche classification (the highest one is the fifth) means that an avalanche can descend on many flanks even without a strong snow pressure. Medium or large spontaneous avalanches are possible to descend on some flanks.
As we reported earlier, the weather forecast on March 10-11 is the following – rains with snow are expected throughout the most of the territory of Ukraine. It will be dry only in the southern part of the country. The daytime temperature - till +15°.
