Ukraine’s Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, before starting to testify in the court on Yanukovych's state treason case, asked the court to allow it to do it in "Slobozhansk" language. The 112 Ukraine TV channel broadcasts the interview.
"I will give free testimony, but I ask the court in accordance with paragraph 4 - to testify in my native language, which is convenient to use - Slobozhansk language, some call it also Russian," Avakov said.
After this, Avakov began to testify in Russian, from time to time switching to Ukrainian.
As it was reported earlier two witnesses of the prosecution's side testifying on Monday during the court session on the case of the former Ukraine's President Viktor Yanukovych's state treason. Interior Minister Arsen Avakov and ex-Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk are questioned in Obolon courtю
Earlier Arseny Yatsenyuk told about the contacts with Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian Prime Minister during his work at this position. There were two talks as Yatsenyuk reported and Russia initiated both of them.
‘I held two talks with Dmitry Medvedev, the Prime Minister of Russia. I told him during the first talk that ‘You should immediately withdraw your troops to the barracks at the zone of the permanent deployment; you should stop the violations of the international law. If there is any questions that concern our bilateral relation then we are ready to discuss them but the illegal annexation and the aggression against Ukraine are the issues that violate the international right and disrupt our bilateral agreements. It is unacceptable’. I also told him during the second talk that ‘You must withdraw your sweepings from Ukraine and then we can talk about the social and economic issues’. It was a strange phone call that concerned the development of the economic relationship between Ukraine and Russia. And we should take into account that Russia began the armed aggression against Ukraine. Medvedev was the initiator of both calls’, Yatsenyuk told.
