Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov believes that the attempt to discredit the special Azov regiment of the National Guard is the desire to weaken the position of the Ukrainian state in the world as Interior Ministry reported.

According to Avakov, the special regiment Azov is the legal regular detachment of the National Guard of Ukraine. The personnel performs the service and fighting tasks for defense of the country.

“The embarrassing information campaign on supposed spread of the Nazi ideology among the personnel of the detached unit of the special purpose Azov of military unit 3057 of the Eastern operational territorial unit of the National Guard of Ukraine is the deliberate attempt to discredit Azov regiment and the National Guard of Ukraine, first of all, in the conscience of the international partners of Ukraine; provoke the crisis with our allies, weaken the position of our state in the world. Exactly the military effectiveness of Azov special regiment in the defense of the state from the military aggression is the real reason for the attempt to stop it by other, hybrid method,” Avakov stated.
