The suspended Chairman of the Board of Ukreximbank Yevhen Metzger was handed charge papers due to the attack on the journalists of the Schemes program. He is suspected of illegal detention of people, according to the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
"Obstruction of the work of the journalists of the Schemes program - the head of the bank was informed of a new suspicion," the message says.
Now Metzger is accused of obstruction of the legitimate professional activities of journalists and illegal detention of people (parts 1, 3 of Article 171, part 2 of Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The issue of choosing a preventive measure is being resolved.
Yesterday, October 7, the prosecutor’s office handed the suspicion of obstructing the professional activity of journalists to the suspended chairman of the board of Ukreximbank Yevhen Metzger and another employee of the bank.
On October 4, reporters of the Schemes project were attacked in the office of Ukreximbank during the interview with the bank’s head Yevhen Metzger in his office. The bank employees used physical force against the Schemes cameraman, took away two cameras from him, and removed the recorded video.
Soon, the journalists of the 'Schemes' project restored the video, which was destroyed by the employees of the financial institution on the orders of its head Yevhen Metzger. The Supervisory Board of the state-owned Ukreximbank announced the start of a check of the reports about attacks on Schemes journalists during an interview with the bank's management.
The President’s Office stood for suspension and dismissal of Yevhen Metzger. In his turn, Metzger wrote that he wrote a letter for suspension for the time of the investigation.
The Supervisory Board made a decision to suspend Yevhen Metzger for the time of the internal investigation.
