Today, October 11, the Holosiivsky District Court considered the case of the attack on the journalists of the Schemes project by Yevhen Metzger, who had already been removed from the position of the chairman of Ukreximbank. Metzger was given a precautionary measure in the form of night house arrest. This was reported by Telegram-channel Segodnya from the courtroom.
"Metzger was given a precautionary measure in the form of a night house arrest for attacking journalists," the statement said.
The same precautionary measure was applied to director of the bank's information policy department Volodymyr Pikalov.
As it was reported earlier, on October 4, reporters of the Schemes project were attacked in the office of Ukreximbank during the interview with the bank’s head Yevhen Metzger in his office. The bank employees used physical force against the Schemes cameraman, took away two cameras from him, and removed the recorded video.
Soon, the journalists of the 'Schemes' project restored the video, which was destroyed by the employees of the financial institution on the orders of its head Yevhen Metzger. The Supervisory Board of the state-owned Ukreximbank announced the start of a check of the reports about attacks on Schemes journalists during an interview with the bank's management.
The President’s Office stood for suspension and dismissal of Yevhen Metzger. In his turn, Metzger wrote that he wrote a letter for suspension for the time of the investigation.
On October 8, Yevhen Metzger was handed charge papers due to the attack on the journalists of the Schemes program. He is suspected of illegal detention of people.
