The prosecutor’s office handed over the suspicion papers for obstructing the professional activity of journalists to the suspended Chairman of the Board of Ukreximbank Yevhen Metzger and another employee of the bank as Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office reported.
"A notice of suspicion was handed over to two officials of the bank on the fact of obstructing the legitimate professional activity of the journalists of the Schemes program,” the message says.
Moreover, Yevhen Metzger said that this morning the law enforcement officers handed him suspicion and once again apologized to the journalists.
"I received a suspicion from the prosecutor's office. Law enforcement officers came to my house at 9 am this morning and handed the document,” Metzger reported on Facebook.
He also noted that he is ready to cooperate with the investigation.
On October 4, reporters of the Schemes project were attacked in the office of Ukreximbank during the interview with the bank’s head Yevhen Metzger in his office. The bank employees used physical force against the Schemes cameraman, took away two cameras from him, and removed the recorded video.
Soon, the journalists of the 'Schemes' project restored the video, which was destroyed by the employees of the financial institution on the orders of its head Yevhen Metzger. The Supervisory Board of the state-owned Ukreximbank announced the start of a check of the reports about attacks on Schemes journalists during an interview with the bank's management.
The President’s Office stood for suspension and dismissal of Yevhen Metzger. In his turn, Metzger wrote that he wrote a letter for suspension for the time of the investigation.
The Supervisory Board made a decision to suspend Yevhen Metzger for the time of internal investigation.
