Two criminal cases were opened due to the fact of assassination at Member of Kherson City Council Kateryna Handziuk. The case on the perpetrators is held by police and the case on the customers is held by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). Yury Lutsenko, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine claimed this as Tsenzor.NET reported.
"The first case on the perpetrators is held by police and SBU has the full access to these materials. The second case on the customers is held by SBU. The prosecutors' group on this case coordinates their actions on this case if it is needed," Lutsenko claimed.
He added that the investigation of the criminal case by the SBU is the request of Handziuk.
"Handziuk and her representatives insisted that SBU established the customer. So, I made a decision to register one more case on a client. And ordered it to the SBU. Of course, under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office."
Lutsenko also reported that three out of four detainees on Handziuk case are identified. One of them bought acid, carried the assassination attempt, the traces of the chemical burns found on his hands.
"The key question concerns the organizer and customer of this case. We see the organizer and he was silent until yesterday. The answer who is customer depends on his testimony to the SBU," Lutsenko said.
As it was reported earlier, four suspects in the attempted murder of Adviser of Kherson Mayor Kateryna Handziuk pleaded guilty.
Kateryna Handziuk, Adviser of Kherson's Mayor was attacked near her place. The attacker soaked her with acid. the woman was hospitalized.
30 percent of her body was burned: head, arms, legs, chest and left eye.
The attack on the employee of the City Council of Kherson was reclassified from "Hooliganism" to "Serious physical injuries committed with the aim of intimidation", and after a while - on "Attempted murder with a special cruelty."
Yuriy Lutsenko took the case under his own control. He reported that the attack on the adviser was a part of the plan to destabilize the situation in the south of Ukraine.
Suspected in the attack was detained on August 3. He name is Mykola Novikov, previously detained for robbing and illegal weapons handling. He is a member of one of the criminal organizations in the Kherson region. According to Anton Gerashchenko, obviously, the detainee was fulfilling someone's order. Whereas, Gerashchenko added that they approximately know who was the proponent.
The Police have already published the picture of the second possible suspect in the attack on Kateryna Handziuk, Adviser of Kherson's Mayor.
